Cold Dog Soup

"There ain't no money in poetry
That's what sets the poet free.
  I've had all the freedom
  I can stand."

Guy Clark had it figured out when he wrote this song. In a way, I think the song is a distant relative of Bob Dylan's "Too Much of Nothing," which echoes the words of King Lear.

Here is a James McMurtry cover of "Cold Dog Soup."
